That’s the simple truth I’ve learned over 30+ years of leading companies, building technology, scaling teams, and yes, dealing with all the messy, frustrating, unpredictable humans along the way (including myself).

I’m Ruben Buell. I’ve been the CEO, the CTO, the startup founder, the corporate exec, the guy pulling all-nighters, and the one delivering bad news when things didn’t go as planned. Through it all, I’ve seen firsthand that success in business (and in life) has less to do with being the smartest person in the room, and everything to do with how you lead, how you listen, and how you show up for others.

Why I Wrote Business Would Be Easy If It Wasn’t for People

I wrote this book because I was tired of watching talented people crash and burn in leadership roles. I was tired of seeing companies with great products and smart strategies implode because no one knew how to manage the people side of the equation.

Most leadership books are too polished, too theoretical, or too full of corporate-speak. This one isn’t. It’s honest, practical, and built on real storie, my stories, and probably some of yours too.
